IPFN expresses concerns over Home Ministry circular-

Interfaith Peace Federation-Nepal (IPFN) has expressed concerns on the directive issued by the Home Ministry on April 7, directing the District Administration Offices across the country to closely monitor the religious activities like teaching, preaching, training and conferences etc.

In a press release signed jointly by the founding chair Mr Ram Bhakta Kurumbang and general Secretary Dr. Mahendra Bhattarai, the release notes that the inter-faith leaders have been working for inter-faith peace and harmony, and calls upon the government to take cognizance of the fact that various faiths have been living in peace and mutual respect in the country. .

The personal and innate rights enshrined The Constitution of Nepal Article 26, Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and International Covenant of Civil and Political Rights Article 18 are to be ensured, the release urges the government.

IPFN has also appealed to all stakeholders including the political parties and activists to act in accordance to the federal secular republicanism espoused in the Constitution.

The press release is one among the many discontented ones in the wake of the rash and seemingly uncalled for circular by the Home Ministry lead by Rabi Lamichhane who himself is embroiled in various cases of fraud, double citizenship and passports, as well as the dubious death of his staff and driver.
