Reminiscing Late Dr. Sareeta Thapa-
A Mighty Woman of God
January 24-
Dr. Sareeta Thapa was promoted to glory- too early and to the pain of many, humanly speaking- on January 14, and her funereal service was held on last Friday, January 20.
The scribe was moved and impressed by the fact that late Sareeta “Guru Aama”- as many endearingly addressed her- had touched so many lives and empowered so many leaders, had served in key positions at many national and international institutions, apart from establishing Nepal Bible College and serving at Aashish Evangelical Church as the co-founder with her husband, Dr. Pastor Sundar Thapa. 
Many national and international leaders and representatives from denominations and churches and fellowships came together to pay her the last tribute and reminisce her life.
Dr Ramesh Khatry, founder of ATEN (Association for Theological Education in Nepal) also spoke about her as the sole female board member of ATEN. His remarks can be found here:

“Sareeta Thapa was small in stature but huge in influence and impact. We’ll miss you Sareeta but glad you are in a better place and someday, we’ll see you far above the Himalayas!” -some friend from overseas wrote before taking off the TIA.

She also shone as a spouse, a mother, and fellow pastor with Sundar in the Ashish (Blessings) church network. Sareeta was a sought-after speaker and preacher, and along with Sundar, played a key consulting role with the Nepalese government in the drafting of Nepal’s first-ever constitution. But Sareeta was so much more than the roles she filled—she was truly a woman after God’s own heart.”

As the procession from Aashish Church to the electric crematorium at Pashupati area, many a soul were restless with the question- how long will the Christian communigty be deprived of a desired, chose, dignified farewell in line with its faith and emotions? It was specially painful, given the fact that late Sareeta Thapa was the initiator of the agreement between FNCN and the GoN regarding a burial ground for Christians back in 2012.
