SUP wishes on15th Republic Day

Kathmandu, May 29-

Social Unity Party (SUP) which envisages a Pleasant, Peaceful and Propserous Nepal, has wished that the Nepali citizens be vigilant for promoting republicanism.

The press release signed by the partry Chair C. B. Gahatraj and General Secretary Dr. B.P. Khanal has outlined the necessity of directrily elected presidential system, federalism and cosntitutionalism among others, for true empowerment of the people as sovereign citizen.
Now is the time for peace and prosperity, and civic supremacy, the press note clarifies.
SUP is strongly committed to federalism, secularism and inclusive representation.
The 7 white stars against a blue background on the party flag represent 7 core values as well as the provinces- peace and purity represented by the white and the blue colors respectively.
Republic Day is a national holiday in Nepal. It commemorates the date on which the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly of Nepal took place on 28 May 2008, which ended the 240-year reign of the Shah kings and declared Nepal a republic.
