What is copywriting?

Copywriting is the practice of crafting written text so as to inform, inspire or persuade. Copywriting can be implemented in sales letters, blog posts, advertisements and social media posts, among others.

As Meghan Keaney Anderson  says,

Copywriting is like a call-to-action, but on a bigger scale: Copywriters are trying to get people to feel, think, or respond — or, ideally, to Google the slogan or brand to learn more about the campaign. And where a blog post like this one has the luxury of hundreds of words with which to make a case, copywriters only have a few words to make their case.”

 How to write engaging contents?

There are many helpful formulae or formats for copywriting that sells or at least engages the reader/audience.

Headlines with words like: crazy, now, fast, amazing, instant(ly) are catchy.

Srating with a short anecdote is always in place. So is pithy sentence, or a joke.

AIDA is another easy but effective formula, where AIDA stands for:

Attention

Interest.

Desire

Action.

Show, don’t tell!

Sellin’ Ain’t Tellin’

There is a story of a successful salesman, who, when asked his number one sales trick, replied, , “Sellin’ ain’t tellin!’ In other words: Don’t TALK about your product. Instead, SHOW people what it can do.

“The sole purpose of the first sentence in an ad is to get you to read the second sentence.”

– Joe Sugarman

Be Very Specific

Your headline needs to be very specific; beating about the bush won’t work!

Answer these questions in terms of numbers, time, methodology, etc: What will happen, by when, how?

The times belong to those who can clearly think, speak/write – articulatte-, and offer or demand clerly. If you can clearly write and presnet, you are can be a dangerous person, says the Candian psychologist Dr. Jordan B. Peterson.
