Asha Nepal Celebrates Children and the Victims of Trafficking with Artistes!

Asha Nepal Celebrated Children and the Victims of Trafficking today at the organizations office premises, on the occasion of the closure of the 16 days of activism against violence on women, and the World human Rights Day 2020.

Today is the final day of all celebrations regarding Huan Rights, and activism against gander-based violence.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, normal types of programmes could not be organized as usual.

Yet, Mrs. Bimala Thapa, Founding Director of Asha Nepal, organized a celebration and get together, where women rights activists, senior cinema artistes, producers and others participated. Birthdays of two of the children reared  by Asha Nepal was observed, and the elderly inmates were also very glad to meet and take photos with the guests.

“The kids love being visited by the celebrities- they get love and care, so I invite the distinguished personalities to be a reason of joy to the children as well as other senior inmates”- Mrs Thapa told the scribe.

Artiste Rabindra Khadka was appreciative of the initiative of bringing joy and love to the deprived children, single mothers and socially rejected ones, by bringing celebrities to them as a family. “Memorable will remain the moments spent with the children and inmates of Asha Nepal…I urge others to visit them sometimes and celebrate them!”, he wrote in his facebook wall, thanking anoter senior artiste Bishwa Basnet, and Ahsa Nepal Founder Bimala Thapa.

Senior artistes Bishwa Basnet, Krishna Malla, Ravindra Khadka, Prithviraj Prasai, producer and distributor Chhabi Ojha, Shankar Lal Shrestha (Treasurer of Nepal Film Society), women rights workers Januka Bhattrai and Draupadi Rokaya among others encouraged the children by their affectionate interactions and gestures.

“Why would one want to book five star hotels for birthday celebration? Let us celebrities and film actors come here, and share the joy with these children!” – actor in such blockbuster movies like ‘Mangalam’ and ‘Kistam 2’ confided.

2020 Theme: Recover Better – Stand Up for Human Rights

This year’s Human Rights Day theme relates to the COVID-19 pandemic and focuses on the need to build back better by ensuring Human Rights are central to recovery efforts. We will reach our common global goals only if we are able to create equal opportunities for all, address the failures exposed and exploited by COVID-19, and apply human rights standards to tackle entrenched, systematic, and intergenerational inequalities, exclusion and discrimination.
