MAF Nepal and Press Society organize Christmas Greetings Exchange and Love Feast programme

- Strong voice rasied and commitments made for the minority faith community and the vulnerable women and children

Media Advocacy Forum- Nepal (MAF-Nepal) and Lalit Press Society organized a Christmas Greetings Exchange and Feast programme yesterday at Quality Banquet, Bhaisepatri, Bhaktapur. Attended by mediapersons, politicians, social workers and activists along with Christian leaders and pastors, the programme mostly focused on the need for reformation and inclusion and justice regarding the minorities- faith, class, gender and others.

The special guest Dr. Ang Kaji Sherpa, member of the secretariat of Janata Samajwadi Party, a formost rights activist himself, challenged the Christian community to actively and powerfully intervene in national politics.He promised to go so far as to be cricified like Jesus Christ if needed for the rights and freedom of the community.

Speakers ranged from Nepal Press Society representatives, popular singer/gajalist Ananda Karki, foremost social worker Bimala Didi of Asha Nepal, and the Spokesperson of Janajagaran Perty Nepal- Bidur Adhikari who also is the founding Chair of MAF Nepal. Mr Adhikari outlined the reason for existence of MAF Nepal, and also linked how his activism led to party politics from a republican, capitalist, pro-limited government principle.

Christmas message was delivered by Rev. Sher AC, the General Secretary of NCFN- the umbrella and oldest Christian organization in Nepal, outlining in some seven points how and why Christmas is a festival and celebration of liberty, dignity, righteousness, love, reconciliation and overall peae and prosperity for human beings.

Bimala Didi of Asha Nepal recounted how she began her work among the trafficked women and girls, rescuing them from the brothels in Bombay and restoring them. Ananda Karki promised to sing at an evening charity/fund-raising concert for Asha Nepal, and wanted to visit them. Many others also were touched by her story and promised to help Asha Nepal in some way.
