December 9, Lalitpur-

A hybrid confe rence on “Dignified Menstruation for Ending Sexual Violence and Child Marriage” was held yesterday at Hotel Himalaya. The conference was called hybrid in more than one sense- it was held in person attendance as well as via virtual medium zoom; it included participants from within the country as well as from without- from the Philippines, Shri Lanka, Pakistan, Malawai, the UK and the USA. It included people with disability as well as a transgender person.

In fact, the very concept and terminology of dignified menstruation was coined by Dr Paudel, and has now gained currency in the international arena! She has written books on war and peace, and menstruation, and is also the founder of Global South Coalition for Dignified Menstruation.

Two panel discussion sessions were held, and a book and a handbook were launched during the programme which began with a sublime play of flute and poem recital. Moreover, winners of two competitions were showcased and awarded, as well as two scholarship grants. And this all was seamlessly brought together by the three organizing partners, namely, , Plan International Nepal, and Global South Coalition for Dignified Menstruation, whom Tech Media supported in the technical and event management aspects.

We thought it would be justice to the contribution made by Dr. Radha Paudel in the field of women empowerment by breaking the taboo around menstruation, by making it understood as something natural, the origin of life; something divine and dignified.

Dr Paudel set the tone of the entire programme with her keynote speech on why dignified menstruation is the milestone for all human rights and environmental efforts.

Therefore, we quote here verbatim from Radha Paudel Foundation facebook page:
