Program Overview

With the significant rise of information technology usage in Nepal, widespread misinformation and disinformation have been a growing problem. The entire ecosystem of news/information, content creation and consumption are adversely affected. This is not just manipulating the public opinions, rationale, and verdicts but also misguiding the public perceptions.

To address these issues, Youth Innovation Lab (YI-Lab) , with financial assistance from the U.S. Embassy in Nepal , is organizing provincial workshops on “Understanding Misinformation and Disinformation” in all seven provinces of Nepal. Furthermore, the provincial workshop focuses in creating a meaningful engagement of 20 participants from each province, total of 140 training of trainers (ToT) from all around Nepal. The aim of these workshops is to equip young journalists, content creators, activists, and youth leaders with the knowledge and tools to counter misinformation and disinformation.
