Lalitpur, April 18-

Sundar Dhoka Saathi Sewa (SDSS) organized a Life Celbreation and Honor ceremoy in memoriam Mr Bikash Adhikari who was promoted to glory on March 4.

Families, friends, partners and beneficiaries of the Adhikari and SDSS  family were physically present from across the country and abroad as well via virtual zoom.

Chaired by Mr. Kosh Bilash Adhikari, lovingly known as Babu Kaji, the Chief Guest of the ceremony was the Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City- Mr. Chiri Babu Maharjan where frieds from India presented a short but moving life journey of Bikash Adhikari. Other guests like representatives from Social Welfare Council, Rural Municipality, Wards, and national and international partners, long-term medical missionaries, doctors, professors, media advocates, women leaders, volunteers and workers among People With Disabilities (PWD) were present on the occasion.

Especially heart touching were the moments when Bikash’ wife Bijata Luitel Adhikari, son and dughter Bishesh and Bisheshta shared their precious memories and love for him, and Babukaji said I had offered my only son Bikash to the service of the People With Disabilities. But the noble work begun by Bikash won’t stop, it will continue, he assured, and pointed that now Bijata is the new Bikash Adhikari!

It was amazing to know how may lives he had touched, supported, spoken life and love into, and served in one way or the other.

The Chief Guest Mayor of LMC Chiri Babu Maharjan acknowledged that he became aware of the needs of the PWD friendly structures like roads, buildings and schools only after working with Bikash, Bijata and SDSS. He solemnly promised that he plans to dedicate certain roads named after Bikash and designate funds in the upcoming budget of the Municiplaity for the same. Similarly, other speakers also fondly shared testimonies of how Bikash had impressed them, and promised continued support and partnership with SDSS, Babu Kaji and Bijata.

A plaque in memory of and containing the inscription of the words spoken by Bikash about his heart for the PWD was jointly unveiled by the Adhikaris and the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of LMC.

It was a moment of reflection, re-dedication, and detremination to transform pain into power, loss into gain, and hurt into an even more compassionate heart for the poor, disadvantaged section of the society.

Being a close friend, the scribe himself was overwhelmed and has decided tor celebrate the life and service of the beloved friend Bikash in the upcoming voice of advocacy magazine, a publication of MAF Nepal, where Bikash served in the Advisory Board as Coordinator of Advocacy for PWD.
