January 18, Kathmandu-

Millennium Challenge Compact grant is a must for the infrastructure development in Nepal which sufferes from the chronic history of never completing any grand scale project on stipulated time.

There is no any military or sovereignty issue whatsoever. But some paid agents of sertain quarters, and opportunistic politicians and mushrooming left-leaning parties and individuals are vehement in their opposition to MCC.

Though they are called for dialogue, they don’t dare to appear on certain platforms like the MCC Debate on Enepalese Platform, with Prof. Uttam Gaulee.

Now is the time conscius citizens and those who want peace and prosperity came vocal for MCC!

This write-up is an attempt to that end, and will continue as a series n the dyas to come too.

Last october, MCC released ‘Statement on the Nepal Compact’ which clarified the nature of the bilater relations between the two countries, and the fatc that MCC is a continuation of the strong partnership between them:

For more than 70 years, the United States and Nepal have forged a partnership based on shared values, democratic ideals, and trust.  From disaster assistance after the 2015 earthquake to our ongoing whole-of-government response to the coronavirus pandemic – including the donation of 1.6 million COVID19 vaccines to date – the United States has been there for the people of Nepal in their greatest times of need. The $500 million grant from the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) is a continuation of the strong partnership between the United States and Nepal to reduce poverty through economic growth.

For the uninitiated, this info on MCC website can be illuminating:

The Millennium Challenge Corporation is an independent U.S. Government agency working to reduce global poverty through economic growth. Created in 2004, MCC provides time-limited grants and assistance to countries that meet rigorous standards for good governance, fighting corruption and respecting democratic rights.
