World leaders took turns speaking at the opening of the United Nations General Assembly’s 75th anniversary session in New York. In a pre-recorded speech, Chinese President Xi Jinping called for global cooperation on Covid-19 on September 22, 2020, while US President Donald Trump told the high-level gathering that the world should hold Beijing “accountable” for the Covid-19 pandemic.

But other world leaders called for a more cooperative effort to combat the coronavirus, and unity in the face of growing divisions.
