United National Nepali Church Council (UNNCC) held an all-party meeting:
Decisions on some serious issues amid heated debate

July 20, Lalitpur –
United National Nepali Church Council (UNNCC) organized an all-party deliberative meeting last Sunday, July 13, at UVN Meeting Hall at Nakhu Dobato, Lalitpur.
The meeting was presided over by honorable Uttam Pariyar and convened by Bhab Ghale, National Coordinator of UNNCC.
Attended by over twenty personages including pastors, party leaders, media persons, activists and various federations.
The agenda included: Progress Report, Congratulating the newly chosen Pope Leo XIV, Activism against same sex marriage and LGBTQ agenda, Constitution Amendment and Mission 2084, Interfaith Roundtable Conference 2083, and Disaster and Relief Program, among others.
The delegates spoke with no bars held, and even came to criticizing and satirizing one other. However, the beauty of the council meeting was that it was a flexible and effective platform that made it possible to freely express any and all ideas.
Decisions Made:
(1) Approval of Progress Report: The progress report was approved with some missing points and achievements incorporated, according to which during the past year, UNCC was able to send relief within and outside the country (for the first time, through NCRS, coordinated by UNNCC on behalf of the Christian community from Nepal for the earthquake victims in Myanmar). A debate was held among expert advocates in the NCS meeting hall to resolve disputes related to Guthi. A greeting exchange program was organized on the occasion of Christmas, Letter of Condolence to the Catholic community at the passing of Pope Francis which has strengthened relationship between the Nepali Protestant and Catholic communities. And coordination various other meetings, the Report was endorsed.
(2) Congratulations and best wishes to Pope Leo XIV on behalf of the Nepali Christian community were unanimously approved.
(3) United Civic Party (UCP) was given the responsibility of coordinating with Civic Concern Nepal (CCN) and organizing a campaign against same sex marriage.
(4) Janajagaran Party Nepal (JPN) was given the responsibility of organizing a meeting regarding the constitution amendment and Mission 84, which will be led by Dr. BP Khanal.
Due to lack of time, the remaining agenda was postponed to the next meeting. Finally, the meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by the coordinator, a concluding statement by the chairperson, and a closing prayer by minister of the gospel Arjun Kumar Mendez, reminding the public that the views expressed during the meeting were concerns expressed in the interest of all communities and nations.
