Actor Bobby Deol‘s entry in his recently released film Animal is creating buzz on the internet. The actor, who plays the character of Abrar Haque, enters the screen with the song ‘Jamal Kudu’ playing in the background. Ever since the film’s release, the song has become a rage.
The popularity of the song even compelled the makers to release the complete version of the song within a few days of the film’s release. Animal was released in the theatres on December 1 and T-series, the production banner behind the film, unveiled the song on YouTube on December 6. So far, the song has garnered 20,282,441 views on the video-sharing platform.

The lyrics of the song loosely translate to, “Oh! The black-eyed beauty, don’t break my heart with your brutality. Oh, you are leaving me to embark on a new journey and I am going crazy like Majnu. The song’s hook line, ‘Jamal Jamalek Jamaloo Jamal Kudu’ means ‘Oh my love, my beloved, my sweet love!’.
The song was first sung by Shirazi Choir of the Kharazemi Girls High School in the 1950s and over the years it has become a popular wedding song. It is said to be adapted from a poem of the same name, written by famous Iranian poet Bijan Smandar.

Earlier, Deol had talked about filming the song. He told Filmfare, “I still remember, Sandeep [Reddy Vanga] had already found the music, a Persian song and he said that it will be played during my introduction, it’s a wedding sequence so it required dancing. When I started enacting it, he said, ‘I don’t want the feel of Bobby Deol. I want you to do something different. So Saurabh [Sachdeva] who plays my brother showed me some steps.”
Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, also stars Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role. The film is also backed by talents like Anil Kapoor. Tripti Dimri, and Rashmika Mandanna. The movie has been doing well in theatres. It has already done business of over Rs 380 crore in India and over Rs 600 crore globally.
