Civic Concern Nepal is concerned about ethical issues:

Kathmandu, September 6-

Addressing a Vigilance and Demonstration Program organized by Radical Change Civic Party (Aamool Pariwartan Nagarik Party) (RCCP/APNP) yesterday at Maitighar Mandala, Civic Concern Nepal Executive Director Dr. Jomesh Wod addressed burning ethical issues from a scriptural viewpoint.

The demonstration was aimed against the recent rise in the cases of rape and killings of women and girls, casteist discrimination and violence against Dalit community, and attacks on churches and evangelists.

Addressed by such speakers as Ex-Home State Minister Rizwan Ansari, Identity Front general Secretary Khagendra Makhim, Caste Watch Network Chair Dr. Mitra Pariyar, and Dalit activist Khagendra Sunar along with APNP chairs Dal Mardan Kami, Bharat Giri and Senior Leader Kamala Hemchuri, the programme warned the perpetrators of crimes, and demanded the government to ensure human safety and religious liberty, and take harsh steps against the offenders.

While the rest of the speakers focused on political, religious and identity rights, CCN Director Wod emphasized the serious decline in ethical standards in relation to legalization of same sex union as marriage, lax laws on abortion, and the growing focus in Nepal to make it a gay tourism and wedding hub. Such immorality will lead to the death of family, society, nation and human civilization at large, he expressed grievous concern.

With the transgender movement getting larger and larger day by day, rampant abortion, and same sex unions, living together without marriage etc., the Nepali society is heading towards it slow but sure deterioration, disintegration and demise, Dr Jomesh warned.

It was  the first public address by a CCN official on such grave issues, covered by national media, and with CCN banner visibly at the center of the programme.

The party being chiefly lead by the faith community, CCN and the party’s agenda overlap on ethical issues, and Secretary Bidur Adhikari leading the program as the Chief of Agenda Setting and Program/Campaign Mobilization Department of RCCP, the two entities have shared values. Hence the sharing of the same platform was made feasible and pragmatic.

CCN works for restoring human dignity, freedom to worship, saving lives of the unborn/pre-born and the vulnerable, upliftment of the poor and the backward section of the society by educational and livelihood support, legal and advocacy support to the victims of persecution. It is guided by values like truth, transparency, love, excellence and collaboration.

It was the very first mass public visibility of CCN as a movement and institution, though some profound programmes had been sponsored and organized already.
