Peaceful Demonstration against Same Sex, Sex Change and Abortion held:

July 30, Kathmandu-

A peaceful mass demonstration program was held at Maitighar Mandal in down town Kathmandu on Sunday, July 27, 2025. It was an all-party vigilance program against serious ethical issues like legalizing same-sex marriage, gender reassignment (sex change) surgery, and abortion, which are hot topics of debate in the country and the international community.

The program, organized in coordination with the Issue Identification and Movement Mobilization Department of the United Civic Party, was attended by representatives of various political parties, social organizations, representatives of the federations, social activists, representatives of civic societies, and faith leaders.

Last year too similar programs were held on September 5 and October 30 to warn the government and stakeholders about violence against women, oppression of religious communities, and caste discrimination, as well as these issues addressed this time.

Coordinator and emcee of the program Bidur Adhikari clarified the background and then UCP Vice-chairman Jit Ghale gave the welcome speech. Then FNCC chairman R.P. Neupane addressed the gathering expressing his strong solidarity with the cause and warning the authorities not to lightly legalize such fatal agenda. Similarly, Voice of Fetus Founding Director Soman Elisha Rai expressed his solidarity with the cause, and clarified the sanctity of human life right from the moment of conception.

Then Civic Concern Nepal ED Jomesh Wod addressed the program, clarifying how the sinful agenda will prove fatal to the family, social and national existence. He questioned how the religious communities would approach the issue of same sex marriage. The priests and pastors may be incriminated if same sex is legalized and if the faith leaders deny conducting such marriages, he warned. Further, he explained that the issues were of national concern, not of any particular political party, faith or organization.

UCP Vice-chairman Balaram B.K. (Sailesh) gave an energetic speech, challenging the authorities to seriously consider about the consequences of legalizing the sinful desires of a handful persons driven by certain agenda. Similarly, UCP senior leader Kamala Hemchuri, former Human Rights Commissioner Dr. KB Rokaya also addressed the program.

Finally, Dal Mardan Kami, UCP Chairman, addressed the program challenging the authorities not to promote sinful agenda.

The program was covered by over two dozen media, including many national ones. It drew quite an attention, as almost all who visited the venue and heard the logic agreed the three specific issues were morally bad and harmful for the nation.

The program was effectively conducted by Bidur Adhikari, UCP Spokesperson, and CCN Secretary. He raised question to certain persons who were born males, demanded be recognized as female, then claimed third or other gender, and are now against demanding a male identity. Now they are claiming their gender changes every 6 months! How to issue new citizenship cards and passports every six months, accordance with their mood swing, as they claim their gender identities should be recognized in line with their “brain gender”? He also warned the TU Teaching Hospital and its administration not to undertake anymore sex change surgery, keeping the identity of the person secret, as it did last June.

Same Sex Attraction is not Marriage!  You can’t deny your DNA!

Don’t mutilate our children!   Life is sacred from the Womb to the Tomb!

Choose life. Your mom did! Human rights begin in the womb!

We are the voice of the voiceless! Rights begin when life begins!

Life begins at conception, not perception! Babies are people too!

Everyone deserves a birthday! Abortion is not healthcare!

Overall, the program was one of the most impactful programs organized till date, both in terms of the attendance of over 300 persons, as well as the national coverage it got.
