MPs and Dignitaries Sensitized on LGBTQIA+ Issue:

Kathmandu, January 13-

National People Campaign and Civic Concern Nepal jointly organized a Press Meet and Interaction Program today with Federal MPs and Women and Dalit Commission Commissioners and former Constituent Assembly members on the “grave” issue of same sex union, its legalization as marriage, and foreign interest and pressure regarding the same.

MP and Former Karnali Province Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi; CPN (UML) MP Ishwari Gharti;CPN (United Socialist) Secretary and MP Sher Bahadur Kunwar; CPN (Maoist) National Assembly Member Bishnu BK; CPN (Maoist) Karnali Province MP and Central Mmember Durga Bahadur Rawat; Janta Samajwadi Party MP Ranju Kumari Jha (Incumbent Human Rights Committee member);  National Women, Children and Senior Citizens Commission’s Former Chair Sheikh Chand Tara (CPN Maoist Central Committee Member and Member of Parliament);  Hon’ble Mina Swornakar, member of National Dalit Commission, Former Member of Constituent Assembly; Durga Pariyar, First Nepalese Constituent Assembly Member and Politburo member of Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Socialist) were among the distinguished guests.

The speakers included Dr. KB Rokaya; CCN Chair Dr. Sundar Thapa , E.D. Dr. Jomesh Wod, and Advocate Prakash Nepali, Dordi Municipality resident, among others.

Dr. Rokaya made a detailed presentation, gleaning from across the world, and questioned why the issue is imposed in Nepal. Then Dr. Sundar, CCN Chair expressed his serious concern about the potential disruptive in the family, and asked the MPs to stand strongly for family, nation and righteousness. Similarly, CCN ED Dr. Jomesh requested the MPs to cause an uproar in the parliament against such perversion. Advocate Prakash Nepali clarified there is no law for the registration of same sex marriage.

After hearing the global scenario, and national plight the MPs responded very strongly against the  trans agenda which will unsettle the nation. They pledged to oppose any legislation that supports such a destructive agenda.

MP Ranju Jha: This is an issue of serious concern; we will oppose it! We will talk to the Home Minister.

Addressing the program MP Ranju Jha said:

“Same sex marriage is a very grave issue. I completely concur with the learned speakers before me, and want to register somethings here. If you could provide me the soft copy of the materials distributed here, I could get an article published in national daily.

In the Constituent Assembly, I was the Chair of the Constitutional Committee on Women, Children and Senior Citizens. That time a pressure group lobbied and much pressurized me to introduce a Bill on Surrogacy; but I did not move. Similarly, sex workers also demanded for a law legalizing prostitution.

Now, this issue of same sex marriage is even more sensitive and serious. Having law background myself, I was shocked to hear the Supreme Court justice directing the government to make provision of registering same sex marriage. But today only I got this opportunity of coming public against this.

How can the judges so lightly decide on such issues? At least they should have looked around, look at our neighbor India for example. They are much more conservative and restrained on such issues. We hurry in everything, without considering the long-term effects our decisions.

Now that we MPs have been made aware of the gravity of the issue, we vow to oppose such proposal in the parliament and in our parliamentary committees.

As far as the benefit from tourism linked with pink tourism is concerned, we don’t know how the nation will benefit; may be only those who are in this field will benefit; there sure are vested interest of some there. I will talk to the Province 2 (Madhesh) Chief Minister and the Province Government, that Wedding Center does not mean same sex wedding; only legitimate and acceptable wedding.

Currently, I am a member of Human Rights Committee; Mr Sunil Babu Panta visited us recently and reasoned that the option male, female and “others” in the citizenship includes all genders; this is an issue of human rights too. I then researched and found that the Home Ministry has been providing citizenships to the third genders as female. We can summon the Minister of Home Affairs to our Committee and question him how this all is happening, as this is within the pale of our Committee. A single judge gives the directive; one Home Minister directs a municipality, then another Home Minister directs all municipalities to register same sex marriage; this is unacceptable.”

The program was very fruitful and impactful, the organizing team concurred, considering the strong stand the MPs vowed to take against the imposed lgbtq ideology.
