MPs and Activists together against Transmadness:

What are its effects? Whose interest is this?

Kathmandu, January 30-

In yet another interaction program on the heated issue of same sex marriage and lagbtq issue, Members of Parliament, Activists and Media persons came together in deliberation.

In the program organized by Janasarokar Rashtriya Abhiyan in collaboration  with Civic Concern Nepal, held at De Valley Restaurant, Tripureshwor, downtown Kathmandu, on January 29 concerns and questions were also raised on the intention on the justices involved in swiftly directing the government to make the provision of provisional registration of same sex marriage.

As the main speaker Dr. KB Rokaya, a former member of the National Human Rights Commission who is also the President of the Nepal Intellectual Forum, presented a global scenario of same-sex marriage and LGBTQ. He claimed powerful nations like the US, Russia, China, India, the Muslim nations have strongly opposed same-sex marriage, calling it anti-human civilization, irreligious and immoral. Putin and Trump have even declared war against LGBTQ, he said.Addressing the same program, Civic Concern Nepal chair Dr. Sundar Bahadur Thapa emphasized that same-sex marriage should be abolished as it is putting the country’s very existence in danger. He feared his own sons may opt for marrying each instead of marrying a girl! Similarly, CCN Executive Director Dr. Jomesh Wod requested the MPs to prioritize their fight in the parliament against the legalization or endorsement of any bill related to same sex marriage.
Senior journalist Narayan divulged some serious secrets regarding the Supreme Court justices, namely ex Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha whose nepotism and progressive agenda has ruined the entire legal system. He revealed that S.C> Justice Til Prasad Shrestha who directed the government to provisionally register same sex marriage, was hand-picked and promoted by then Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha.
Nationalist activist Manav Sevak also addressed the program said such unrighteous agenda must be opposed strongly on all fronts. Mr. Min Raj Gurung, A local of Dordi Municipality Lamjung, also briefed about his meeting with the local Ward Chairs about why and how did they register the same sex marriage, given there is no legal provision for the same.Then the MPs took their turn, all acknowledging the same sex agenda sounds to adventurist unwanted and imposed from outside. House of Representatives MP and UML Central Committee member Dayal Bahadur Shahi, House of Representatives MP and UML central member Chandra Bahadur Bishwakarma, House of Representatives MP Pushpa Bahadur Shah, House of Representatives MP and Janamat Party leader Goma Labh Sapkota pledged to oppose any bill that may be brought to the parliament regarding same sex marriage legalization. They also suggested the campaigners to organize such programs with the party chairs, and Parliamentary Committees, esp. Culture and Tourism, Law, and Home Affairs.

MP Chandra Bahadur Bishwakarma asked the campaigners to present and clarity more about the need, how and why of same sex marriage, its effects, how the the rights of the same sex/homosexual people as individuals/human persons may be ensured without adversely affecting the larger society, etc.

The MPs were reminded how the collusion between the Executive and the Judiciary has undermined their role as law-makers; how Judiciary has become dominant over the legislative and the executive in contrast to the spirit of the separation of power.

Bidur Adhikari, media person, activist and CCN Secretary thanked all the speakers and participants and summarized the shared opinion and concerns of the attendees. He urged the government and stakeholders to consider the issue seriously before making any decision, as same sex union legalization will have far-reaching repercussions for the family, nation and human civilization.

Prakash Rokaya, himself an activist, media persona and UML leader, the coordinator of the Jana Sarokar National Campaign, conducted the program. He urged the media, activists and MPs to take a strong strand against the imposed agenda.
